Classic Queen Anne Whole-Home Remodel & Addition
A thoughtfully phased transformation blending modern design with the timeless character of a classic Queen Anne home.
This Queen Anne whole-home renovation was guided by a clear, long-term vision from the very beginning. The homeowners chose a phased approach, allowing the home to evolve thoughtfully over time while maintaining cohesion across each stage.
The first phase focused on the second floor, reworking the bedrooms and shared bath to better support daily living.
About 18 months later, the kitchen, living room, and powder bath were fully renovated, introducing a sleek, modern design that blended seamlessly with the home’s classic architectural character through close collaboration with the architect. The custom fireplace features multi-colored tile set on varying planes, creating striking texture and dimensional depth that adds warmth and architectural interest to the space.
The largest transformation came with the third phase: a two-story addition that introduced a new family room and a private primary suite. This phase also included all new windows and siding across the entire home, refreshing the exterior while preserving the integrity of the original Queen Anne style.
A new garage replaced the former structure, complete with updated garage doors integrated into the addition.
The final phase completed the home’s evolution with a full basement remodel, enhancing usable living space without expanding the footprint. Spanning four phases over eight years, this project reflects a disciplined, intentional approach to remodeling, layering modern aesthetics and functionality into a timeless Seattle home while honoring its architectural roots.
