Fauntlee Hills Full Basement ADU Remodel

This young, growing family needed to create a welcoming space for their in-laws to stay when visiting their grandchildren. The basement was transformed into a bright, functional retreat that feels anything but a basement.

To meet their needs, we added a cozy bedroom, a full bathroom, and a laundry closet in the hallway, providing a private and comfortable space for guests and turning this basement into an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). The walkout portion of the basement allowed for separate access, ensuring visitors could come and go without disturbing the homeowners upstairs.

Additional thoughtful touches included a built-in desk under the stairs, perfect for the children to use for homework as they grow, and custom built-ins for games, books, and keepsakes to keep the space organized. The existing fireplace became a focal point, adding warmth and charm.

Lighting was key to the transformation. Maximizing the natural light already available makes the basement feel open, airy, and inviting—a perfect multi-functional space for family and friends.
